Hyva — tipper hydraulics

Hyva is one of the most popular suppliers of tipping systems: telescopic cylinders, pumps and control valve blocks. When a tipper “won’t lift”, drops or jerks — nine times out of ten the cause is in the hydraulics. We diagnose the whole system: PTO, pump, valve block, valves and cylinder, instead of replacing parts at random.

Scope of Hyva service

Telescopic cylinders. Overhaul (full seal kit, rod polishing, pressure test) or replacement, depending on the condition of the tube and rod — more detail: tipper cylinder overhaul.

Pumps and valve blocks. Repair and replacement of hydraulic pumps, service of tipping control valve blocks, filter and oil changes, working pressure checks.

Tipping system diagnostics. Locating the cause of dropping/jerking, electrohydraulic diagnostics of in-cab controls.

Overhaul or replacement — how we decide

  1. Disassembly and inspection — assessment of the rod (corrosion, scoring), the tube and the guides.
  2. Measurement — tube ovality and rod runout determine whether the component qualifies for an overhaul.
  3. Decision — sound rod and tube: overhaul (full seal kit, polishing). Rod corrosion or tube ovality: replacement.
  4. Pressure and leak test — after every repair, before the vehicle is released.

If the rod and tube are sound — an overhaul (full seal kit, polishing) is cheaper and faster. With rod corrosion or an ovalised tube, replacement pays off. We assess after disassembly and measurement.

Yes — we service hydraulic pumps and tipping control valve blocks, replace filters and oil, and diagnose the electrohydraulics of in-cab controls. We locate the cause (pump, valve block, valve, cylinder) instead of swapping parts blindly.

Typical symptoms: a raised body slowly dropping, jerky or uneven lifting, incomplete extension, an oil film on the rod and oil traces on the frame, a noisy pump. A leak carries the risk of the body dropping suddenly — do not put the repair off.

The overhaul of a telescopic cylinder itself usually takes 1–2 working days: disassembly, measurement, full seal kit replacement, rod polishing and a pressure test. It takes longer when a part has to be ordered or when disassembly shows that replacement is more economical than an overhaul.

The most common cause is a leak: worn cylinder seals or a leaking valve in the control block that cannot hold the oil column. Less often it is internal leakage in the pump. That is why we diagnose the whole system before replacing anything — a drop caused by a valve needs a different repair than a worn cylinder.

Mostly yes — Hyva equipment is above all tipping systems. We repair cylinders, pumps and valve blocks regardless of the body make, so if the tipper has a Meiller body and Hyva hydraulics (or the other way round), we handle both in one workshop.
