Tippers and trough trailers are worked hard. Aggregate, earth, gravel — abrasive loads, poor roads, overloading. A tipper body takes more punishment in a year than a car body takes in ten. The most common repairs are weld cracks at corner reinforcements, hydraulic cylinder leaks, damaged tailgates, and failed hydraulic valves.
The workshop in Chorula services tipping trucks and tipper trailers (three-way and rear-tip), trough trailers, and flatbeds. MIG/MAG for steel, TIG for aluminium, 10-tonne overhead crane.
Repair Scope
Loading body — welding and panel work
Weld cracks at corner reinforcements, floor cracks under aggregate loads, damaged side panels. We repair both steel bodies (S235, S355, Hardox wear-resistant steel) and aluminium. For Hardox bodies, dedicated electrodes and wire grades are required so that the joint is not the weakest link in the structure.
Hydraulic lifting cylinders
A tipper telescopic cylinder operates at 200–280 bar. The most common failures: leaks at the rod seal (visible oil film on the cylinder), damaged thread or supply fitting, corrosion of the cylinder tube. We regenerate cylinders (seal replacement, rod polishing) or replace them entirely — depending on condition.
Hydraulic system — pump, distributor, valves
For PARKER, VOAC and EDBRO units: distributor valve servicing, filter replacement, hydraulic oil change. For control failures — electrohydraulic diagnostics, solenoid valve repair.
Tailgates and hinges
Tailgates tear off, bend, and crack more often than anything else under intensive use. Straightening, welding, hinge and latch replacement, adjustment.
Anti-corrosion painting
Tippers are particularly exposed to corrosion from below — water, mud, de-icing salts. Post-weld painting of underframe and body: abrasive blasting (minimum Sa 2), epoxy primer, topcoat.
