In Brief
Tanker service at PHS Magnum covers TIG/MIG welding of steel and aluminium tanks, ADR armature replacement, WDT inspections, and anti-corrosion painting. We hold WDT and TDT authorisation for liquid tank repairs on road vehicles. Our welders carry certifications for acid-resistant stainless steel grades 304 and 316L. Types serviced: fuel tankers (ADR class 3), chemical tankers (classes 6.1, 8, 9), food-grade tankers, and dry bulk tanks.
Tankers are vehicles where every repair has a regulatory dimension. A tank carrying ADR class 3 fuel, acid, or food-grade liquid is subject to different requirements than a dry bulk vessel — and the conditions it must meet before returning to service legally differ accordingly.
We hold WDT and TDT authorisation for repairs on liquid tanks mounted on road vehicles. Our welders are certified for stainless steel grades 304 and 316L. We are familiar with ADR documentation requirements — we know what the inspector checks and which material certificates are required.
Tanker Types We Service

| Chemical tankers | Stainless steel 304/316L | ADR classes 6.1, 8, 9 |
| Food-grade tankers | Stainless steel 304, 316L | Food contact certification |
| Gas tankers | High-grade steel | TDT, ADR class 2 |
| Dry bulk tankers | Steel, aluminium | TDT |
Repair Scope
Tank welding and sealing
Cracks and breaches in tanker vessels are welded by TIG or MIG/MAG depending on material. For stainless steel tanks we use 308L or 316L filler rods exclusively, following welding procedures that eliminate oxidation of the sealing surface — any discolouration (bluing) on a food-grade tank sealing area requires additional treatment before the tank is fit for service again.
Before any welding we verify that the tank has been cleaned and degassed. Welding a tank with residual fuel or chemical content is not just a procedural issue — it is a physical hazard.
Armature replacement and repair
Bottom discharge valves, safety valves, fill connectors, hatch seals — we replace these with components certified for the relevant medium and ADR class. For ADR tankers we use only armature carrying the correct UN approval.
ADR marking
Orange plates, hazard labels, UN number placards — installation and replacement in accordance with ADR 2023/2025 requirements. If the transported medium changes, markings must be updated accordingly.
WDT inspections
Tankers carrying dangerous liquids are subject to mandatory WDT (Military Technical Inspection) examinations. The cycle is similar to TDT: external inspection every 2–3 years, pressure test every 6 years.
We prepare vehicles for WDT examination: tank cleaning, armature check, document compilation, inspector visit coordination.
Technical Washing Before Repair
Before repair, the tank must be cleared of the previous load. For chemical ADR tankers — professional washing and degassing with a cleanliness certificate, required by the insurer and the inspector. We organise washing in cooperation with certified ADR tanker washing facilities.
