Silo Trailer Discharge Coupling Replacement – PERROT, Storz

Replacement of silo trailer discharge fittings at the PHS Magnum workshop in Chorula, Poland. PERROT ɸM 108, Storz and Camlock couplings. TDT documentation, hose-adapter sets.

DAF silo trailer hauling bulk materials

At a glance

We replace and convert silo trailer discharge fittings — Storz, PERROT ɸM 108 (4"), Camlock and DIN/ANSI flanged couplings — on Spitzer, Feldbinder, Kassbohrer and other trailers. A standard coupling replacement typically takes 1-2 workshop days, with TDT-compliant documentation. Workshop in Chorula, Poland, 4 km from the A4 Gogolin junction, ISO 9001:2015. Bookings: +48 602 716 551.

What we offer

At the PHS Magnum service workshop in Chorula we replace and adapt the discharge fittings of silo trailers — couplings, hoses, reducers — for Spitzer, Feldbinder, Kassbohrer and other manufacturers’ trailers. We handle both ad-hoc replacement of individual components and complete conversion of the fittings to a new specification.

Typical job scopes:

  • Replacing a worn Storz coupling with a new one (same diameter)
  • Permanent Storz → PERROT conversion (or vice versa)
  • Preparing a hose + adapter set for deliveries to a receiver with specific infrastructure
  • Replacing the complete discharge fittings (nozzles, valves, hoses) — typically during a general overhaul
  • Repairing mechanical damage to fittings (damaged coupling, leaks)

Coupling types — comparison

The choice of coupling depends on the receiver’s infrastructure. The four most common solutions on bulk material silo trailers:

Coupling typeConnection principleTypical diametersWhere found
Storzbayonet (quick coupling, quarter turn)ɸM 75, ɸM 100, ɸM 108pneumatic standard in PL and DACH
PERROT ɸM 108threaded 4"4"cement plants, some industrial sites
Camlocklever (cam locks)2-4 inchesindustrial installations, transloading
Flanged DIN/ANSIbolted (flange)per specificationfixed receiving installations

For regular deliveries to a single receiver we most often recommend a hose + adapter set matched to their specification — this eliminates having to convert the trailer each time.

The process for a first order

  1. Phone or e-mail contact — description of the situation, trailer make and model, expected scope of work
  2. Preliminary assessment — by phone or from photos. We establish the scope, time and a preliminary quote
  3. Booking a visit at the Chorula workshop — the slot is agreed with the dispatcher (typically 3–7 days from the order)
  4. Carrying out the work — typically 1–2 workshop days, with ongoing status updates
  5. Vehicle handover with documentation (job card, invoice, any amendments to the TDT documentation)

What affects the cost

The cost of replacing a discharge coupling depends on several factors we assess individually:

  • Coupling type and diameter — Storz vs PERROT, 3" vs 4"
  • Scope of modification — whether a coupling swap is enough, or a new nozzle must be fitted
  • Material — stainless vs carbon steel, aluminium for some fittings
  • Workshop time — typically 4–16 working hours
  • Documentation requirements — whether an ad-hoc TDT test is needed

Every job is quoted individually after a preliminary assessment. We do not publish a price list, because the scope of work can differ significantly even between seemingly similar jobs.

Why PHS Magnum

  • Daily routine — we replace fittings regularly, not once a quarter
  • Experience across all brands — Spitzer, Feldbinder, Kassbohrer
  • TDT-compliant documentation — entries in the vehicle file, any ad-hoc tests carried out on site
  • Location on the A4 — Chorula, Gogolin junction, 4 km from the motorway — easy access from Poland, the Czech Republic and DACH
  • Workshop facilities — our own machine park, welding shop (TIG aluminium, MIG steel), our own silo trailer wash bay

Frequently Asked Questions

A standard replacement of a Storz or PERROT ɸM 108 coupling typically takes 1–2 workshop days. The time depends on parts availability, any fitting modifications, and TDT documentation requirements. Contact us in advance and we book a specific slot in the workshop schedule.

It depends on the scope of the modification. Replacing a coupling within the existing fittings (without touching the pressure vessel) usually does not require a full TDT inspection, but it does require an entry in the vehicle documentation. Larger modifications (diameter change, welding on a new nozzle) may require an ad-hoc test. We consult every case with TDT before starting work.

Storz (ɸM 75, ɸM 100, ɸM 108), PERROT ɸM 108 (4"), Camlock (types A, B, C, D, E, F in 2–4 inch diameters) and DIN/ANSI flanged connections for selected industrial installations. We have experience with Spitzer, Feldbinder and Kassbohrer silo trailers — replacing fittings on these brands is our daily routine.

Yes. For customers regularly serving a specific receiver (e.g. a plant with PERROT connections) we prepare a hose-adapter set matched to the receiver's specification. The hose can be left physically at the receiver's site for permanent use.

Typical symptoms are: a worn or swollen thread (the coupling no longer seals tight), leakage at the gasket despite replacing the ring, pitting and corrosion marks on the contact surface, mechanical deformation after an impact, and excessive play in a Storz bayonet connection. Each of these means a leak risk during pneumatic discharge, so the coupling is assessed at the next fittings service.

Yes. Conversion to stainless steel is a frequent job for hygroscopic or corrosive materials, where carbon steel wears out quickly. We match the coupling and nozzle material to the type of PE/PP granulate or bulk material carried and to the receiver's infrastructure. Details are agreed at quotation.

Yes. If the trailer is coming to us for inspection preparation anyway, we combine the replacement or conversion of the discharge fittings with the inspection work in a single workshop stay. This shortens vehicle downtime and lets us agree any documentation changes with TDT in one go — the inspection scope is described on the [TDT inspections of silo trailers](/en/rewizje-tdt/silonaczepy/) page.
