Meiller — tipper bodies and hydraulics

Meiller is a German manufacturer of tipper bodies (Kipper) and hydraulic equipment, popular in aggregate haulage and earthworks. Meiller tippers are known for a solid body, but under intensive use abrasive loads and overloading take their toll — body cracks and hydraulic leaks appear.

What we repair on Meiller tippers

Load body. Cracks in corners, floors and floor-to-sideboard transitions. We weld S355 steel and wear-resistant Hardox — with matched wire and preheating so the weld does not crack again (methodology: welding a Hardox tipper body).

Lifting hydraulics. Overhaul and replacement of telescopic cylinders, repair of control valves, oil and filter changes.

Tailgates and hinges. Straightening, welding, replacement of hinges and locks, adjustment.

Anti-corrosion painting after welding repairs.

Where a Meiller body cracks most often

LocationCauseTypical repair
Floor in the discharge zonebucket impacts, abrasionwelded-in reinforcement / section replacement
Floor-to-sideboard transitionbending stress concentrationwelding with notch relief
Rear corners at the tailgatetearing forces during dischargewelding, reinforcement
Around hinges and reinforcementsweld notchesre-welding, wire selection

The same spots crack regardless of brand — half-pipe and tipper bodies work the same way.

How a Meiller tipper repair proceeds

  1. Inspection and quote — assessment of scope (body, hydraulics, tailgate, paint), cost estimate; photo documentation for insurance claims. Ask for a quote.
  2. Disassembly and preparation — exposing cracks, grinding out welds, removing the cylinder if it needs overhaul.
  3. Welding and straightening — body repair (S355/Hardox), straightening of sideboards and corners, tailgate and hinge repair.
  4. Hydraulics — cylinder overhaul or replacement, control valve service, oil and filter change, pressure test.
  5. Painting and handover — sandblasting, primer, top coat, functional test of the tipping system.

Meiller, Hyva and other brands in one workshop

Tipper hydraulic systems are often Meiller or Hyva equipment — we service both brands, so we diagnose the whole system, not a single component. Full range of tipper and half-pipe trailer repairs: tipper trailer service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. PHS Magnum services Meiller tippers: welding of steel and Hardox bodies, overhaul and replacement of hydraulic lifting cylinders, repair of control valves, straightening and repair of tailgates, anti-corrosion painting. Workshop hall in Chorula, 4 km from the A4 junction.

Yes — cylinder seals, hinge and sideboard lock components, hydraulic fittings. Some items are in stock; the rest we usually source within 24–48 hours. Spare parts phone: +48 604 800 869.

Yes. Overhaul of a Meiller telescopic cylinder: seal replacement, rod polishing, pressure test. When the rod or tube is destroyed by corrosion — we recommend replacement. The decision is made after disassembly and measurement.

No. TDT supervision applies to pressure vessels (silo trailers, tankers). A Meiller tipper is subject to periodic vehicle roadworthiness tests, not TDT inspection.

Yes — frame and body straightening, structural welding, replacement of damaged sections, suspension repair. We prepare documentation for the insurer.

Because these are stress concentration zones: the floor at the discharge point and under bucket impacts, the floor-to-sideboard transitions, the rear corners at the tailgate and the areas around reinforcements. Abrasive loads and overloading cause fatigue cracks there. When welding we try to relieve the notch so the weld does not crack again at the same point.

Not always — if the cylinder itself can be removed, you can deliver just the component. More often, however, cylinder repair goes together with body or tailgate repair, so it is more convenient to leave the whole tipper and do everything in a single downtime. We decide after inspection.

Yes. Standard body sections are usually S355 structural steel, while the most abraded zones may be wear-resistant Hardox. For Hardox we select the right wire and preheating according to material thickness so the weld is not brittle — the methodology is described separately.
