Multi-brand: one range of valve gear, many trailer makes
PHS Magnum has been operating since 1990 and serves fleets of silo trailers of various makes — and these rarely have valve gear from a single manufacturer in the product line. Alongside the most popular Ebro valves, discs from other suppliers are found in operation, fitted at the factory or added during earlier refurbishments. For the operator of a mixed fleet this means one thing: a parts stock of only one brand is not enough, and re-equipping the entire discharge assembly just to unify the manufacturer generates a cost with no technical justification.
That is why we offer the full range of Burgmer and Kraft butterfly valves together with a full set of accessories. Together with Ebro valves they provide three butterfly systems available from a single warehouse — allowing a trailer to be serviced in the state in which it actually works, selecting parts and accessories for the fitted valve gear instead of replacing sound components of the line.
Technical specification — Burgmer and Kraft
In this category we carry butterfly valve gear from two manufacturers complementing the Ebro range:
| Manufacturer | Version | Accessories |
|---|---|---|
| Burgmer | full range, including the VA/VA system sealed without rubber seals | seals, handles, discs, bodies |
| Kraft | full range of butterfly valve gear | seals, handles, discs, bodies |
The distinguishing feature of the Burgmer range is valves sealed in the VA/VA system — without rubber seals. In this design the sealing pair is a metal-to-metal surface, without an elastomer seal exposed to ageing and abrasion. Eliminating the rubber element has practical significance wherever a classic seal would wear prematurely — with aggressive media, elevated temperature or abrasive materials. No rubber element means that servicing focuses on the condition of the sealing surfaces and the free movement of the closing element, rather than on cyclically replacing a wearing seal. Detailed material and pressure-temperature parameters differ between models and versions, so we confirm them against the specific valve found on the trailer.
For Kraft valves we carry the full range of butterfly valve gear, also with a full set of spare parts. We match the DN size and design type for both brands to the pipework of the given trailer — when enquiring, please state the make and size of the fitted valve.
The role of accessories as wear parts
The full set of accessories — seals, handles, discs and bodies — is not an add-on but the actual set of a butterfly valve’s wear parts. It allows the valve gear to be overhauled in stages, replacing only the element that has actually worn out, instead of buying a complete new valve:
- seals — the most frequently wearing element in versions with a seal; in the VA/VA version its role is taken over by the metal-to-metal pair,
- handles — exposed to mechanical damage in everyday handling,
- discs — the working element subject to abrasion by bulk material,
- bodies — the valve’s base; when the body is sound, the repair is limited to the remaining elements.
This matters especially with older valve gear, where the valve body is sound and only the handle, disc or seal has worn out. The “repair instead of full replacement” approach lowers the fleet’s maintenance cost and shortens vehicle downtime.
Selection by DN and medium
The right butterfly valve is selected primarily by the nominal diameter (DN) of the pipework and by the medium the trailer carries. The diameter and body design must fit the existing product line, while the nature of the medium — free-flowing, abrasive, hot or chemically aggressive — decides whether a version with a seal or the rubber-free VA/VA version is more advantageous. That is why we do not select the disc “for the trailer make”, but for the specific parameters of the installation and the transported PE/PP granulate or other bulk material.
Compatibility with silo trailer makes
Burgmer and Kraft butterfly valves are product-line valve gear, selected for the existing pipework — regardless of the trailer manufacturer. In PHS Magnum’s service practice we use them on vehicles of the most frequently serviced makes:
- Spitzer — SF (non-tipping) and SK (tipping) series,
- Feldbinder — the EUT (non-tipping) line and the KIP tipping silo,
- Kässbohrer — K.SSK and K.SSL models,
- and silo trailers from other European manufacturers found in mixed fleets.
In each of these cases the valve is selected by valve gear make, DN diameter and body design, not by the body type. When enquiring, please state the valve make, size and mounting method — that is enough to assemble the right accessories. For Burgmer valves the key additional distinction is whether the unit works with a rubber seal or in the rubber-free VA/VA system, because this determines the set of service parts.
Warehouse in Chorula
We supply Burgmer valves (including the VA/VA version without rubber seals), Kraft valves and the full set of accessories from the PHS Magnum warehouse in Chorula near Opole — 4 km from the A4 motorway, about 180 km from the German border. The location in the A4 corridor shortens delivery times both to the domestic market and to customers across the EU.
We build the stock around the real needs of a mixed fleet, not around a manufacturer’s complete catalogue — we maintain the availability of the types and accessories that actually move in the servicing of trailers of various makes. Some items are fulfilled from stock, some via direct delivery, depending on the type and size. Orders can be grouped with other pipework parts:
- Poland — courier shipping,
- EU — delivery to European Union countries (including Germany, Austria, Czechia),
- Personal collection — Chorula warehouse near Opole.
