AKO pinch valves — one part for multi-brand fleets
PHS Magnum has been servicing and supplying parts for silo trailers operated in Poland and across the DACH region since 1990. As a multi-brand workshop we handle mixed fleets — a single job can bring us vehicles from different manufacturers, each with different discharge line fittings. The AKO pinch valve is a good example of a part selected by connection, not by trailer brand: what counts is the DN diameter and flange compatibility, not the logo on the tank.
A pinch valve controls the flow of bulk material in the discharge line. Shut-off is performed by a flexible sleeve (membrane) squeezed inside the body — there is no rigid disc or ball in the flow path. This gives a smooth, full closure of the channel and reduces the risk of cargo bridging, which matters with materials prone to caking. The wear item is the NBR sleeve itself — it is the sleeve that cracks, hardens and delaminates after many cycles of contact with granulate or other bulk material. That is why we carry it as a separate spare part: replacing the insert restores tightness without touching the body.
Technical specification
AKO pinch valves in standard execution:
| Feature | Specification |
|---|---|
| Body | aluminium |
| Flange | aluminium |
| Seal (sleeve) | black NBR |
| Standard | DIN 28460 |
| Flange class | PN 10/16 |
| Internal sleeves | DN80, DN100 |
| Sister system | Prokosch (valves and sleeves) |
Flange dimensions
| DN size (mm) | Flange standard | Bolt circle (mm) | Hole diameter (mm) | Length (mm) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DN80 | PN 10/16 | 160 | 18 | 226 |
| DN100 | TW3 | 150 | 14 | 282 |
| DN100 | PN 10/16 | 180 | 18 | 282 |
DN100 comes in two flange executions (TW3 and PN 10/16), differing in bolt circle and hole diameter — the execution is matched to the connection in the given discharge line. Before ordering, please confirm the flange variant for the specific connection point.
The internal sleeve is a replaceable wear item, available separately for every valve type — in DN80 and DN100 sizes. Alongside the AKO system we also carry the sister sleeve valve system from Prokosch (valves and sleeves), which lets us assemble a compatible component even when a trailer arrives fitted with another manufacturer’s valve gear.
The aluminium body and flange keep the valve’s own weight low — a discharge line can have several such points, so weight matters for the vehicle’s payload. The black NBR sleeve provides the actual shut-off and is, by nature, a part with a limited service life: it works cyclically in contact with bulk material, so planned sleeve replacement is cheaper and more reliable than an emergency response to a leak on the road. The DIN 28460 flange standard in PN 10/16 class ensures that a valve of a given diameter dimensionally fits the typical discharge connection and can be swapped without modifications — provided the bolt circle and hole diameter are confirmed for the specific connection point.
Compatibility with silo trailer brands
Because the valve is matched to the flange connection (DIN 28460, PN 10/16) and the DN diameter, the same spare part goes onto silo trailers of various brands in our workshop:
- Spitzer — SF (non-tipping) and SK (tipping) series.
- Feldbinder — EUT (non-tipping) and KIP (tipping silo) lines.
- Kässbohrer — K.SSK and K.SSL models.
- Other European manufacturers — vehicles with a comparable discharge line using a pinch valve on a DIN 28460 flange.
Selection is not based on the trailer type but on the actual connection and the sleeve valve system genuinely fitted on the vehicle. If a silo trailer is fitted with AKO valves, it is most convenient to keep a single consistent system along the whole material line — it standardises spare sleeve stock and simplifies service. Where fleet history has led to a mix of AKO and Prokosch systems, we help tidy up the line during an overhaul and match an equivalent from the sister range.
Parts warehouse in Chorula
We keep AKO valves, DN80/DN100 internal sleeves and Prokosch system components in stock in Chorula near Opole — 4 km from the A4 motorway junction, approx. 180 km from the German border. Proximity to the A4 shortens delivery both to the domestic market and to fleets operating across the EU.
We run real stock levels of what actually gets used in a multi-brand workshop — the NBR sleeve is one of the most frequently replaced discharge line parts, so we keep DN80 and DN100 sleeves on hand at all times. Grouped orders with other pipework components are possible, along with courier shipping across Poland and the EU and personal collection in Chorula. Specialist portals
For single-brand fleets we run dedicated parts catalogues with full model context:
- AKO pinch valves — Spitzer (SF/SK) — valve selection and service for Spitzer silo trailers.
- AKO pinch valves — Feldbinder (EUT/KIP) — valves and sleeves in the Feldbinder EUT and KIP lines.
Sleeve replacement and discharge line overhauls are also carried out as part of the PHS Magnum silo trailer service.
