Storz Reducer Clamps

Reinforced clamps securing Storz couplings and reducers – universal for silo trailers of many brands. Painted or galvanised steel. Chorula warehouse.

Reinforced clamps securing Storz reducers for silo trailers of various brands — metal inserts, PHS Magnum

In brief

Storz reducer clamps are a reinforced securing device with metal inserts, intended for Storz couplings and reducers on silo trailer discharge systems. Available in two versions: economy in painted steel and reinforced in galvanised steel. They are selected by the type of Storz connection (band width from 41.5 to 52 mm), regardless of trailer brand. We keep them in stock at our warehouse in Chorula near Opole, with shipping across Poland, the EU and the DACH market.

Introduction

Wherever two different Storz coupling diameters meet in a discharge system, a reducer is used — a transition from one coupling size to another. It is a spot on the system that deserves particular attention, because the reducer carries loads on both sides of the connection while also being the point where the flow geometry changes. By definition it is an “asymmetric” connection, joining components of different mass and geometry, which is why under pressure and vibration it loosens more easily than a coupling of the same diameter. Every release of a reducer during operation means not only an interrupted discharge, but also the risk of a sudden pressure release.

Because Storz is a universal standard, reducers and their securing devices look the same regardless of trailer brand across the network we service. The clamps in this category are the reinforced securing version, with metal inserts — stronger than the classic band with a rubber lining. They are used wherever a more reliable lock on the connection matters: on reducers and on couplings working in harsher conditions, with intensive discharge and frequent hose changeovers.

Specification

Clamps securing Storz couplings and Storz reducers, in two versions:

Features shared by both versions:

The band width is selected according to the type of Storz connection:

Storz connection typeBand width (mm)
C (52) + C (52)43
B (75) + C (52)41.5
B (75) + B (75)44
A (110) + B (75)42
A (110) + A (110)52

We match the clamp to the connection type (coupling size or size pair for a reducer) and confirm the selection at quotation.

Brand compatibility

Reinforced clamps are a universal element of the Storz system — they are selected by connection type, not by trailer brand or model year:

  • Spitzer (SF/SK) — couplings and reducers on the pneumatic discharge system.
  • Feldbinder (EUT/KIP) — diameter transitions on the EUT discharge piping and under pressure on the KIP.
  • Kässbohrer (K.SSK/K.SSL) — Storz connections and reducers in the discharge system.
  • Other brands — wherever a reducer or Storz coupling works in harsher conditions.

We particularly recommend the reinforced version for reducers, where the transition between two coupling sizes raises the demands on the securing device. If it is unclear which connections work on a given system, simply provide the trailer type or VIN number.

How to select a reducer clamp — step by step

  1. Determine the connection type — check whether you are securing a coupling of the same diameter (e.g. C+C) or a reducer between two sizes (e.g. B+C). For a reducer, state the size pair.
  2. Read the Storz sizes — the A (110), B (75), C (52) markings are usually on the coupling; if in doubt, provide the trailer type or VIN.
  3. Select the band width — using the table above (from 41.5 mm for B+C to 52 mm for A+A).
  4. Choose the version — economy (painted steel) for milder conditions or galvanised for year-round operation with road salt.
  5. Order — we confirm the selection at quotation and pick the order together with the other Storz accessories.

Chorula warehouse

We keep reinforced securing clamps in stock at our warehouse in Chorula near Opole (4 km from the A4 motorway, approx. 180 km from the German border). Both versions are usually available off the shelf for popular connections. The choice between the economy and the galvanised version is best driven by the fleet’s actual working conditions — seasonal or year-round, mild or exposed to road salt. Courier shipping across Poland, the EU and the DACH market; grouped orders with the other Storz accessories are possible. For help selecting the version and band width — ask for a quote, stating the Storz connection type.

Specialist portals

Descriptions of Storz reducer clamps prepared for specific trailer brands are available on our portals: Spitzer and Feldbinder.

Frequently Asked Questions

Reducer clamps are the reinforced version of the securing device — with metal inserts, intended both for Storz couplings and for reducers (transitions between two coupling sizes). The classic version is a galvanised steel band with a rubber lining, described in a separate category.

Two versions: an economy one in painted steel and a reinforced one in galvanised steel. Both are fitted with metal inserts, which increase the reliability of locking the Storz connection against release.

A reducer joins two different coupling sizes, so under pressure and vibration it is loaded unevenly and loosens more easily than a coupling of the same diameter. Metal inserts hold such a connection more rigidly, reducing the risk of release during discharge.

Yes. Storz is a universal standard — the clamp secures the connection or reducer itself, regardless of trailer brand. It is selected by the type of Storz connection and the appropriate band width.

The band width depends on the type of Storz connection: C(52)+C(52) — 43 mm, B(75)+C(52) — 41.5 mm, B(75)+B(75) — 44 mm, A(110)+B(75) — 42 mm, A(110)+A(110) — 52 mm. When ordering, state the connection type or the size pair for a reducer, and we will select the right width.

For a fleet running year-round on EU routes, exposed to road salt and moisture in winter, we recommend the galvanised steel version. The economy painted steel version works well in milder conditions at a lower cost.

Simply provide the trailer type or VIN number, or send a photo of the connection. Based on that we will determine the Storz coupling type (A, B, C) or the size pair for a reducer and select the correct band width. Storz is a universal standard, so selection does not depend on brand or model year.

No. The clamp mechanically locks the connection against release under pressure and vibration, whereas tightness is the job of the gasket in the coupling. These are complementary components — a worn gasket needs separate replacement, even if the clamp holds the connection securely.

A reducer releasing under pressure means not only an interrupted discharge, but also a sudden release of compressed air and material — a real risk to personnel. That is why reducers, which are loaded unevenly, are secured with the reinforced version with metal inserts instead of the classic band.
